When talk comes to the golden era we can’t forget this man. With his charm he made every female’s heart pop out (with age no bar). Females went so crazy that he was asked not to wear black suits as some women would jump from buildings. Just imagine !!! Well, this proves how big was his charm!! Dev Anand had worked over 100 movies in his life.
Dev Anand’s full name is DevDutta Pishorimal Anand and his nickname was “chiru”. He has spent his early years in a village in Gurdaspur town (Punjab). The actor did his schooling from Dalhousie and later on in Punjab. He went to college in Dharamshala and for further studies, he went to Lahore.
Did you know how he lived before becoming an actor? He began working in Military Censor office where he earned Rs. 165 and the worked as an accountant in a firm where he earned Rs.85 just to make his ends meet.
Dev Anand was inspired many of us but he was truly inspired by the legendary actor Ashok Kumar. The actor was very much motivated by his acting in Achut Kanya. He mentioned in an interview that “I remember when I gate-crashed into the office of the man who gave me the first break, he kept looking at me – Babu Rao Pai of Prabhat Film Studios. At that time he made up his mind that this boy deserves a break and later mentioned to his people that ‘this boy struck me because of his smile and beautiful eyes and his tremendous confidence”. Dev Anand debut from the movie ZIDDI.
Undoubtedly many girls fell for him but Dev Anand falls in love with the popular actress Suriya but due to certain circumstances, the two could on be together. Later on, in 1954 he married Kalpana Kartik and spent his life with her.
The astonishing actor still rules the heart of the people. His evergreen songs, movies, and dialogues are remembered. The government honored him with Padam Bhushan in 2001. He received Dada Saheb Phalke award for his contribution to the industry in 2002.
Well, his acting is still unmatched. there might be another Shahrukh Khan but there cannot be another Dev Anand in bollywood.
