On 1st April 2013, with a prosthetic and rod in a leg, within 52 days, she summited Mount Everest hoisting the Indian flag. |

Some Other Facts About Arunima Sinha– |
She was born in a Kasthaya family where most of the members served in the Indian Army. |
She was just 3 years old when her father passed away who was an engineer in the army and the entire responsibility was shifted to her mother(a supervisor in the health department) and brother-in-law. |
She even represented as a national volleyball player seven times in a row. |
She had the interest to serve the Indian Army and even received a call letter from CSIF. |
She faced the biggest hurdle while traveling through Padmavati express from Lucknow to Delhi, where she was thrown by the gold-chain robbers out of a running train full of passengers and no one came to her rescue. |
She was lying on the railway track the entire night with an injured leg and was carried finally to the district hospital in the morning by the locals. Doctors had to chop off her leg. |
She faced controversy when police interpreted the train incident as a suicide attempt, and she was traveling without a ticket, etc. and put the entire blame on her and her family. But the Lucknow bench commanded to pay rs. 500,000 as compensation to Arunima for such a heinous incident. |
She was so angry that she thought that she would prove everyone wrong and then thought of taking up the toughest challenge even after being an amputee. |
She met Bachendri Pal right after the recovery and told her about the dream of climbing Mount Everest. |
It was not an easy task, which took 2 min. to other mountaineers to reach, it took 3 hours to her. But, she was determined to reach the peak and completed the summit within 52 days. |
She even climbed the highest peaks of all 7 continents. |
She lastly became a motivational speaker, inspiring everyone with her life story. |
She became the first female amputee to climb all the peaks and was honored with one of the highest recognition awards – Padma Shri. |
