Reita was born in Goa and brought up in Mumbai. She is the first “Miss World” from India and by the profession, she is a doctor.

She has won many titles like Miss Mumbai, Eve’s Weekly Miss India contest. In 1966 she participated in miss world contest and won the crown. Not only this she also won other subtitles at Miss World contest like, best in evening wear round for wearing Saree and best swimsuit in swimsuit round. She was best in 51 delegates from around the globe.

Later she received many acting and modeling offers but she turned them down and went back to her studies. She completed her MBBS and went to London for further studies.
In 1971 she got married to David Powell who was her mentor. The couple moved to Dublin and started a life there. She is the perfect example of beauty with brains.
