There is no hard and fast rule to make a simple table. Rather, this can be the best platform for the beginner woodworkers as well. You need to, however, keep in mind that this can be a bit complex project at the beginning but as you understand the instructions, you will realize that this is the best and the fun thing to do with your friends. This table requires a leg, tabletop, and apron as well.
Part 1: Making the base of the table
First, you need to understand the length of the table you want. You can select the legs that have to finish as the table height. But yes, the base needs to a little smaller as compared to the top side of the future so that it can give a slight overhang look.
Part 2: Simple assembly
It is time to cut the woods in the mentioned measurements and start with the assembling part. Make sure you have your eyes and hands protected during this course.
You can start with the pieces of the back and front base. With the help of Kregjig, it is possible to create the pocket holds. This would join the apron pieces to the legs. For the bottom side, you can choose the 2×4 option to keep a certain place for different legs.

Part 3: The joining
Once these pieces are ready, you can join them both with the help of side apron pieces too. You must keep the first piece in the upright direction and place the side one in the right spot. You need to then clamp the wood so that it becomes easy to do the assembly. You can drill down the pilot holes using the front leg in the apron.
Making the Table Top and Shelf
Once the side aprons are all fit, your base is ready. If you are making a sofa table then you can use the 1×12 cut for the right length. You may also want to attach it with some better screws through the top. Later you can fill these holes. If visible screws are not in your mind then you can also sue the pocket holes. You need to ensure the screws are not big in length but short enough so that they will not puncture the top side of the wood.
Make the table base
It is time for you to now create the shelf. You can take a 1×12 piece using the jigsaw for which the spaces for legs can be cut. It is important to spare some gaps for the wood and fit it well in the illustration. Keep this in such an angle that there is additional room to keep the food. While working on the bottom shelf, make sure you screw it in the same place. Forcing the wood that doesn’t fit makes no sense. But you can surely cut some silver off it will fit well.

To enhance the overall look of the table, you can always go for the sand and finish it the way you need it. You can even paint it with some lasting colors. Red and white combination always look the best but give a white base if you are applying another color to seal it well.
