Those who have dry skin are aware of the damage that cold winds and the impending winter may do to their skin. Dry, flaky skin becomes a common issue in the winter. In an effort to achieve that glass-like, shiny skin, we go above and beyond. However, people with dry skin can find it a little more challenging to get the desired effects.
Winter’s dry air causes the skin to become patchy, flaking, and itchy, which further contributes to the skin’s uneven and lifeless appearance. While we already have a skincare programme in place to address the skin problem, adding some homemade TLC is a good addition that is quick, easy, and inexpensive while also producing beneficial benefits when used consistently over time.
Here are a few home remedies for treating dry skin:
Honey with coconut oil
This mixture is very beneficial as it contains moisturising, bacterial-fighting, and healing components like honey and coconut oil.
Method-
- Combine honey and coconut oil in an equal amount (1 tbsp each).
- Apply uniformly to your hands, neck, and face.
- Give it 20 to 30 minutes to sit.
- To reveal moisturised skin, wash off with water and pat it dry.
Honey and ripe banana
Both bananas and honey have moisturising qualities, but because of the latter’s antibacterial advantages, this cure also works to prevent allergies and infections that may develop as a result of dry skin. Honey and banana can be combined to make a healthy face mask that hydrates and softens your skin.
Method-
- A ripe banana should be mashed with two tablespoons of honey.
- Making a paste that is smooth.
- After 20–25 minutes, leave it on the skin and then rinse with cold water.
- Try it on a small area of skin first before using it all over.

Banana and cream
You may have heard that the best moisturisers are fresh cream made from skimmed or heated milk. It’s a blessing for those who have dry skin. When combined with banana, a classic treatment for dry, fresh cream works twice as well. Rich cream soothes and nourishes dry skin even on the coldest winter days, leaving your skin soft and supple. Combine this with the naturally moisturising qualities of bananas.
Method-
- One ripe banana should be mashed with a fork.
- Several teaspoons of heavy cream should be added.
- Apply a smooth paste after whipping it on your face.
- After 20 minutes, leave it on for cleaning with a moist towel before rinsing.
Chocolate and Honey

Although the advantages of honey for the skin are well known, mixing it with chocolate is something new. Chocolate has a lot of caffeine, which helps brighten your skin. The lipids in chocolate have the power to moisturise the skin while gently exfoliating it. For this reason, chocolate is increasingly a common ingredient in cosmetic products.
Method-
- Melt two to four squares of dark chocolate in a cup.
- It will become a smooth paste when you combine it with 1 teaspoon of honey.
- As soon as the chocolate reaches room temperature but before it solidifies, apply to the entire face and neck area.
- After 15 minutes, gently massage it in circular motions onto the face.
- Rinse well with warm water.
Papaya Toner
According to reports, papaya has strong hydrating and skin-brightening properties. The minerals in this fruit, which is enzyme-rich and rich in nutrients, are vital for maintaining healthy, nourished skin. Papayas can also reduce skin irritation and sunburn. It reduces the visibility of pores and treats discoloration.
Method-
- Remove the seeds from one papaya slice’s pulp by scraping it.
- One cup of water and the pulp should be added to a blender and blended.
- After cleaning your skin, dunk a cotton ball in the pulp and apply it to your skin.

- Combine 2 cups of sunflower oil, 1 cup of aloe vera gel, and 1 cup of liquorice tea in a bowl.

Jojoba And Frankincense Essential Oil Mask
Try this one if you’re looking for a natural moisturiser that works really well for dry, acne-prone skin. This is because jojoba oil’s texture is so strikingly similar to the sebum produced by our skin. This aids in regulating excessive sebum production, giving your skin a healthy appearance. The inclusion of frankincense essential oil is due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is a popular scar and wrinkle reducer in addition to being an efficient acne treatment. The antimicrobial properties of lavender essential oil help to reduce acne-related skin irritation and redness.
Method-
- In a dish, combine one tablespoon of jojoba oil, three drops of frankincense oil, and three drops of lavender oil.
- The liquid should be dropped into a small vial.
- Apply 2-3 drops on your face two or more times each day.
