- Change pad regularly:
There is a risk of skin infection during periods. In such a situation, the pad should be changed at least thrice a day. A woman under heavy bleeding should change the pad every 3 to 4 hours. Using the pad for a prolonged time increases the chances of getting a rash. Women often avoid changing pads, sometimes for saving a pad and others find it cumbersome. - Use soft pads:
To avoid skin rashes, pads should be used according to the skin. It is advisable to use cotton pads in the summer season. Aside from this, you can use that pad with a gentle touch. Also, avoid changing brands regularly.
- Avoid using fragrant pads:
One should also avoid using fragrant sanitary pads. For fragrance, alcoholic chemicals are used which can cause skin irritation.

Proper underwear should be used during periods to avoid the problem of skin rashes. Use cotton underwear in summer and keep synthetic and tight underwear off the list.
- Use talcum:
You can also use talcum powder to fight moisture and wetness during periods. Clean the area around the vagina with lukewarm water and put the powder on the sides.
