Smoking has always been in trend (thanks to our movies). Well everyone around is a smoker these days, some are active some are passive. Passive smokers can’t do anything because making them a passive smoker, credit goes to the active ones. They smoke and other people inhale. Even if anyone try to run it would be useless because the air we breathe is polluted enough.
Now we can’t stop breathing! This is not about active and passive smokers but about the teens who have become a chain smoker at an early age. Understanding a teenager’s mind is as difficult as understanding maths algorithms (some of us might understand). They start smoking for various reasons. Some of them could be:-
- Peer Pressure
Peer groups are sufficient for dragging any child to the wrong path. Well, some might have resistant power and some do not. So some teens might become a smoker just because of the peer pressure.
- Adult Smoker in the house
Not only peer pressure but you could also a reason. As we say children don’t follow your advice they follow in your footsteps. So they might be smoking because they are seeing an adult in the house doing same.
- Coping with stress
Okay, some teens are not good at expressing themselves so they figure out smoking is a way of dealing with stress. if that’s the case then try helping your child out.
- Disturbed
Being emotionally or mentally broken is the main cause of smoking as they cannot express their emotions. They might have had a breakup or their family might be tearing apart or they lost someone special. Whatever the case is; a teen is likely to get addict to smoking when they are disturbed.
- Time pass
This is the most stupid reason anyone can give when asked why do you smoke? Just because you wanted a break from work you were doing; you opted for smoking. They also think it’s cool.
If your child is a smoker then before lecturing him/her about it try understanding the reason behind then treat accordingly. Your lectures won’t do any good but if you talking to them; that might help them get rid of smoking.
