When we talk about our army our hearts fill with pride and joy. We are a country of over a billion people but nothing more makes us patriotic than talking about our army and cricket. This thought has been equally well taken up in the films and the TV industry for long. You have seen many films such as border, army, Lakshya etc produced on the same lines. Bard Of Blood:
All heroes do not wear the dress. Some just work on the field. Bard of Blood is an Indian web television series starring Emran Hashmi. The series is a 7 episode series that has been produced by Sharukh Khan’s production house – the Red Chilies Entertainment. The show is built on the lines of a book named “Bard of Blood,” by Bilal Siddiqi. The story revolves around a disgraced intelligence agent Kabir Anand played by Hashmi. He gets back into the field to rescue agents captured by the Taliban. The story is set in the Pakistani Province of Balochistan, the deals with cross border terrorism and involves rogue Indian agents contending with Pakistani intelligence services. Despite the usual Islamophobic clichés and the intolerant subordinates, the story brings out the best in the characters. Some of the other characters in this series are Sobhita Dhulipala, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shishir Sharma, Viineet Kumar and Danish Husain. The show is available on Netflix to binge with a runtime of 45 minutes.

CODE M:
Unlike streaming on Netflix and Prime, this one comes from the house of ALT Balaji’s. The thriller web series Code M is a classic that shows the role of a female army officer in action. The web series launched the famous Jennifer Winget on to the world of the web series and she has really made a mark in these eight episodes. The story begins as three army officers chase two militant suspects and even though authorities try to shut and close the case, Monica Mehra aka Jennifer Winget is called upon as the investigating officer for the case. Monica encounters Angad Sandhu as their legal counsel, who is also Monica’s ex-boyfriend. The love relationships intertwine with political affairs making it even harder for her to complete the job. The series along with the tied up investigation and thrill raises a brow towards issues like casteism, homosexuality, honor killings and much more. The show creates a lasting mark on the audiences. Extra brownies points for the cinematography.

The Final Call:
The Final Call is a masterpiece that the audience has loved. The Indian web television thriller series is based on Priya Kumar’s novel I Will Go with You: The Flight of a Lifetime. The show is available on ZEE 5 with a list of top actors like Arjun Rampal, Sakshi Tanwar, Anupriya Goenka, Neeraj Kabi, Javed Jaffrey, and Vipin Sharma. The show revolves around 300 passengers of a flight from Mumbai to Sydney whose lives are endangered after the captain Karan Sachdev aka Arjun Rampal decides to commit suicide on board. An ATS team comprising airline officer Kiran Mirza aka Sakshi Tanwar jumps into action to save the passengers on board. The question is whether they will be able to successfully save the passengers and make this mission a success. We promise the show keeps you at the edge of the seat and makes you know about forces other than the army that work round the clock to keep us safe.

The Family Man:
An Amazon Prime original web series, this series stars Manoj Bajpayee as Srikant Tiwari. He is a common middle class man who is stuck in family life. But, he has another side where he is a brilliant Intelligence officer. The audience sees how an intelligence officer who is bound to his duty struggles living the life of a normal family man. He always plays a see-saw of family and his national duty. Srikant plays a ‘good for nothing’ husband and father, stuck in an impasse of his married life with wife Suchi. He is troubled by his low salary but he loves all the attention and respect by the juniors at the workplace. The storyline of the web series has been inspired by true events. The web series also casts a critique of homegrown terrorism and a radical take at the validity of Muslim terrorism. Manoj Bajpayee’s excellent performance keeps you hooked for as long as the series lasts. And, the addition to the brilliance is characters like DK who played Manoj Bajpyee’s friend.

The Forgotten Army:
The Forgotten Army is an Amazon prime original web series. The series dreadfully questions the nature and validity of history. Directed by Kabir Khan, the story revolves around Colonel Surinder Sodhi and Maya Srinivasan. Retired army officer Surinder Sodhi (MK Raina) meets his family after long and narrates the tale of Azad Hind Fauj to his grandson Amar aka Karanvir Malhotra. Meanwhile, Sodhi’s firsthand experience in war is lived through his voice and Sunny Kaushal’s character in the past, in the 1940s. The story moves forward to narrate the story of the Azad Hind Fauj – an army consisting of over 60,000 men and women who were made refugees in their own country. Sodhi (Sunny) and his men are shown to have surrendered to the Japanese army in Singapore and now together they have plans of liberating India from Britishers by training and sending more Indian soldiers to fight in their country. Whereas Maya aka Sharvari Wagh shows how women rights, their cause and rebellion. The pair falls in love during the time of war, when one seems to be living on borrowed time. The voiceover has been given by Sharukh Khan.

Test Case:
The Test Case aired on ALT Balaji. The show stars Nimrat Kaur, Akshay Oberoi, Rahul Dev, Atul Kulkarni, and Anup Soni, along with a guest role by Juhi Chawla. The series has been directed by the famous Nagesh Kukunoor and Vinay Waikul. The story revolves around Captain Shikha Sharma played by Nimrat Kaur who is the first woman test case to be considered for a combat role in the Indian Army. Sharma aka Nimrat joins the training academy with the male officers to be a part of the Special Forces. She has to undergo extremely rigorous training and faces many obstacles to compete with the men under difficult circumstances. The story revolves on the issue of how a woman has to overcome social stigma, prejudice, and other big hurdles on her path to be a part of the armed forces.

Delhi Crime:
If you haven’t added this to your must watch list then you have missed something brilliant. The web series revolves around the most notorious rape case in India 2012 Delhi gang rape case Nirbhaya case. The first season has got critical acclaim and appreciation from the audience. It stars Shefali Shah, Adil Hussain, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, and many other brilliant actors. The story revolves around the rape case investigation of a 23 year old girl and her male friend who are beaten up and brutally assaulted in a running bus near Munirka in New Delhi while they were going home after catching a movie. The girl is gang raped and brutally assaulted with an iron rod. Then the duo is thrown naked on road in injured condition. The culprits tried to run them over with the bus. Delhi Crime tells the story from the perspective of the Delhi Police and DCP Chaya Verma played by Shefali Shah who investigated the case and how she cracked it within a short span of 2 days.
